Abraham is the first of the patriarchs - the man who left his homeland and believed in one God while the whole world worshiped idols. His story in the Book of Genesis lays the foundation for the people of Israel and for three religions, and he is one of the central figures in any Bible quiz.

The Call to Go Forth
The first command to Abram was "Go forth from your land and your birthplace" - to the land that I will show you. Abraham set out without knowing where, in complete trust, and received a promise: "I will make you a great nation." This was the beginning of the journey to the land of Canaan.
Hospitality to Strangers
Abraham was known for his kindness and hospitality. Even on the third day after his circumcision, in the heat of the day, he ran to greet three guests, washed their feet, and fed them. From his tent, open on every side, we learn the lesson of generosity that has accompanied the people of Israel ever since.
The Covenant Between the Parts
In the Covenant Between the Parts, God promised Abraham descendants as numerous as the stars of heaven and the land for all generations, and also foretold the exile in Egypt and the redemption from it. "And he believed in the Lord, and He counted it to him as righteousness" - a verse that became a cornerstone of faith.
Sodom and Lot
When God was about to destroy Sodom, Abraham argued on behalf of the righteous: "Shall the Judge of all the earth not do justice?" He pleaded for mercy even for a sinful city. In the end only his nephew Lot and his daughters were saved, and Lot's wife turned into a pillar of salt.
The Birth of Isaac
In their old age Abraham and Sarah had Isaac - "God has brought me laughter." His birth when Abraham was a hundred was the fulfillment of the promise and the miracle on which the dynasty was built. Abraham sent Hagar and Ishmael away, and Isaac remained the heir to the covenant.
The Binding of Isaac
The greatest test of all: God asked Abraham to offer Isaac as a burnt offering on Mount Moriah. Abraham rose early and did not hesitate, and only at the last moment did the angel stop him: "Do not raise your hand against the boy." A ram was offered in Isaac's place, and Mount Moriah became the future site of the Temple.
